Is Amethyst Massage Therapy a home-based studio?

Yes! Amethyst is a professional, home-based massage studio in Sioux Falls.  The studio was thoughtfully created to offer the same privacy, professionalism, and quality of care you would expect from a traditional massage setting, within a quieter and more personal environment.For me, being home-based is more than simply where Amethyst is located. I want it to feel like a place where you can walk through the door, leave the outside world behind for a little while, and truly settle in.

What should I expect when I arrive?

Front row parking is yours.  When you arrive, please pull into the driveway and park either along the left side, closest to the front door, or in the far-left (third) stall— no parking lots, long walks, or searching for a spot!Once you're parked, come on up to the front door. I'll be ready to welcome you in. You'll kick off your shoes at the entrance and head down a short set of stairs into my bright, welcoming lower level, filled with natural light and plenty of plants.The massage studio itself is a dedicated, private room with its own door and has been intentionally designed to feel peaceful, comfortable, and professional.Come in, get comfortable, and make yourself at home.

Will your family or pets be around during my appointment?

Appointments are intentionally scheduled during daycare hours to help keep the studio quiet and peaceful.  My husband may occasionally be home during an appointment, but he’ll be doing his own thing elsewhere in the house and won’t be in or passing through the studio area during your visit.I also have a friendly dog who will be happily settled on a different level of the house while clients are here—unless you’re a dog person and would like a little complimentary “pet therapy” before or after your massage. She’s always happy to oblige!Your appointment time and the lower-level studio space are yours to settle into, so even though Amethyst is located within my home, you can expect the privacy and peaceful atmosphere of a professional massage setting.

Is there a bathroom available?

Absolutely. A recently updated bathroom is located on the same level as the massage studio and is available for your use during your appointment.You'll also find a few thoughtful care essentials stocked for you, including hair ties, bobby pins, feminine products, makeup remover wipes, and other little things you may appreciate before or after your session.

Is a home based studio still private and professional?

Absolutely. Although the setting may feel a little warmer and more personal than a traditional massage office, the professional standards of your care remain the same.Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you, the massage studio is a dedicated room with a closing door, and professional boundaries and draping practices are maintained throughout every session.My goal is for it to feel less like you’re walking into someone’s house for an appointment and more like you’ve been welcomed into a peaceful place where you can immediately settle in, exhale, and know you’re in good hands.

When should I arrive?

Right around your scheduled appointment time is perfect. Because Amethyst is a private studio without a traditional waiting room, there’s no need to arrive more than 5-10 minutes early—this allows us plenty of time for you to use the restroom if necessary, and for us to chat for a few minutes about your session goals for the day!If you’re a new client, any necessary intake paperwork can be completed ahead of time so we can make the most of your appointment.

Is the studio accessible?

Amethyst is located on the lower level of my split-level home and requires going down a short flight of stairs to reach both the massage studio and client bathroom. Because of this, the studio is not currently wheelchair accessible.If you have mobility concerns or aren’t sure whether the stairs will be comfortable for you, please reach out before booking. I’m always happy to answer questions so you can determine whether the space will be a good fit for your needs.

Do I need to know what kind of massage I want before I book?

Not necessarily. Every massage is personalized to what your body needs that day.We’ll check in before your session about how you’re feeling, any areas that need extra attention, your pressure preferences, and what you’re hoping to get from your time on the table.Whether you need focused therapeutic work, deep relaxation, nervous system support, or simply an hour where no one needs anything from you, we’ll shape the session around you.

What if I want to talk during my massage—or don't want to talk at all?

Either is completely okay. This is your time.Some people unwind by chatting, while others need quiet. After we’ve checked in about your session, there’s no expectation to carry on a conversation. You’re welcome to talk, be quiet, close your eyes, fall asleep, or simply let yourself drift.

What if I fall asleep—or snore?

Then you’re probably pretty relaxed!Falling asleep during massage is completely normal, and there’s absolutely no need to apologize if you snore. Your nervous system finally decided it was safe enough to switch off for a while—I’ll take that as a compliment.

Question 11

What should I wear to my massage?

Accepted Answer

Whatever you’re comfortable in!You’ll have complete privacy to undress to your personal comfort level before your massage and get dressed again afterward. Professional draping is used throughout every session, and only the area of your body being worked on will be uncovered.

What if I'm running late?

If you’re running behind, please let me know when you’re able. I’ll always do my best to accommodate you, but your session may need to be shortened so the next client’s appointment can still begin on time.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Accepted Answer

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice whenever possible.Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged 50% of the scheduled service price.  Missed appointments without notice will be charged 100% of the scheduled service price.I understand that unexpected illness, emergencies, severe weather, and other circumstances outside of your control can happen.  When they do, please reach out as soon as you're able.  I'm always happy to approach genuine unexpected situations with understanding and reasonable flexibility.Frequent cancellations or rescheduling may require prepayment when booking future appointments.Any outstanding cancellation or missed-appointment fee must be taken care of before your next session.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment is due at the time of your appointment.  I accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards for eligible massage therapy services.Cash is also welcome.  As I do not keep cash on hand in the studio, exact payment is appreciated.For your convenience, card payments are processed securely through Square.Gratuity:Gratuity is always appreciated, but never expected. If you feel your session was exceptional and would like to leave a tip, you are welcome to do so when checking out.  Above all, your continued trust in my care and your decision to return are the greatest compliments I can receive.

Are gift cards available?

Absolutely. Gift cards are available for anyone who could use a little time to slow down, exhale, and be cared for.Physical gift cards are available for purchase in the studio, and digital gift cards can be purchased online anytime for easy, convenient gifting.
Gift cards may be purchased in the dollar amount of your choice.

I've never had a massage before—what should I know?

Mostly, know that you don’t have to worry about doing massage “right.”I’ll walk you through what to expect before we begin, and you’re always encouraged to speak up about pressure, positioning, temperature, music, or anything else that would make you more comfortable.You don’t have to arrive already relaxed. You don’t have to clear your mind. And you certainly don’t have to apologize for needing rest.Just come as you are.I’ll take care of the rest.
